Unexpected Things that could be causing your frizz

Frizzy hair can be annoying and the worst part is that it can happen to anyone. There are too many factors that can determine or cause hair frizz. Some of us have to deal with them regularly, whereas some are lucky enough to only face the issue rarely. The problem with frizz is that it can happen due to some pretty unexpected and surprising reasons. Here’s a list that covers some of them.

The hairbrush

People tend to overlook the hairbrush. “It’s a simple tool, what’s there to think about?” Well if you invest in the right hairbrush, you can better manage your hair frizz. The right hairbrush will help you tackle this issue. That’s because brushes help to evenly distribute the moisture back into your strands.

The pillowcase

You’re probably thinking ‘What’s wrong with my comfortable pillowcase?’, or ‘How can I possibly go wrong with it?’. Turns out, you can. The cotton pillowcase you sleep on might be contributing to your frizz. There is friction at night between the pillowcase and your hair. This causes breakage and damage. And the cotton pillowcase soaks your natural oils. So it is wise to invest in a silk pillowcase as that will help avoid this problem.

Hot water showers

Hot showers are super comforting and relaxing after a long, hard day. The problem is although it might feel good then, it is causing damage to your hair that will reflect over time. Hot water can have multiple negative effects on your hair. It can strip your hair of its natural oils and end up making your hair dry and frizzy after the shower. So, it is advisable to use cold water while showering, at least on your hair!

Playing with your hair too much

Touching your hair a bit too much can cause frizzy, dry hair. This is because you are unknowingly causing friction in your hair strands. The more friction there is, the more frizzy it will look. This can also make your hair too oily at times. It depends on your skin and hair type. Still, we recommend not touching it altogether.

Heat styling

Heat styling your hair helps you get that celebrity hairstyle you’ve always wanted. And it feels good. But is it good for the long run? We think not. Heat styling your hair can cause frizz in your hair. Whether you blow-dry your hair, curl it with heat or straighten it with heat, the damage can not be avoided. Thus, heat styling should ideally be avoided but if you can’t stay away from it. Try using a heat protection serum.

Not using the right products.

You have to make sure that you use only the most suitable products for your haircare needs. You have to understand what your hair needs and what products can fulfil those needs. If you use products that aren’t meant for you, your hair will suffer. And if you invest in the right ones, your hair will give you some amazing results! This might take some trial and error but it will be worth it.

Over washing your hair

We know what you’re thinking. How can washing your hair cause your hair to be dry and frizzy? Well, if you do it too much, your hair will have to pay for it. It is recommended even by professionals that you wash your hair only 2-3 time a week. Over washing will strip your hair of its natural oils and make it dry.

Towel-drying your hair

Towels tend to be slightly harsh on your hair. And if you rub too quick, it will cause even more damage. Your hair is vulnerable when it is wet, so towel drying isn’t the best thing you can do to your hair (especially with the same towel that you use for your body). You can ditch your regular towel and consider either a cotton T-shirt or a microfiber towel.
