The men’s guide to treating oily greasy hair.

Your hair is one of the first things people notice about you. You have to make sure it is well-groomed and in good condition. When you start taking good care of your hair, the results you reap will be pleasing. However, if you do it wrong you are bound to get judgemental looks from those around you. It can even leave a lasting negative impression.

Your hair depends on multiple factors such as environment, genetics, age, diet etc. These factors also determine how dry or oily your scalp and hair are. Anything extreme and your hair will almost always leave a bad impression. If you are facing these issues, you have to take the right steps or you can aggravate the problem.

Causes of greasy hair

Our scalp is responsible for maintaining a good environment for your hair. You can say that your hormones judge how your scalp behaves. It produces sebum, the production of which is judged by multiple factors. If you touch your hair too much, it will accelerate the sebum production on your hair and scalp. The more you wash your hair, the more oil your scalp will produce. The foods that you eat also have an impact on this. Fatty foods will increase oil production.

You can prevent oily hair by drinking lots of water as it will hydrate you and dilute everything you consume. Further, you can try to consume less oily and greasy foods. Instead, increase the intake of fresh vegetables and fruits. It is also considered wise to avoid too much dairy and sugar. Avoid getting your hair in contact with extreme heat as an added measure of safety. And the simplest step you can take is changing your pillowcase more often.

Some natural treatments you can try:

Try some Aloe Vera to moisturize and protect your hair. It can also act as a cleansing agent.

Try washing your hair with Black tea, apple cider vinegar or lemon juice. The acids found in these mixtures help balance the PH levels on your scalp and reduce the body’s inclination to excrete sebum. You can also consider egg masks, honey masks, etc.

The most basic thing is to choose the right products.

You have to be cautious while choosing your hair care products. All-natural products are usually your best bet. If you are not comfortable with all-natural products, you should at least avoid those products that contain too many preservatives or parabens and sulfate. These elements can aggravate your problems. Even while choosing an all-natural product, make sure to read up enough reviews and information from organic, trusted sources.

Essential oils and extracts!

You can even consider using certain essential oils to help with your greasy, oily hair. There are plenty of products in the market that uses these oils but keep an eye out on the quantity of oil they’re using. If they add just a tiny amount, then it probably won’t do any good for you. Instead, you can directly source essential oils such as tea tree oil, lime extracts, coconut oil, Argan oil and more.
